After the current administration gave an injunction preventing the reporting of the situation at the border, the numbers of immigrants keep rising. A top official within Customs and Border Protection provided details to Breitbart on the situation on the ground. The official estimates an ever-growing surge of unauthorized immigrants who escape the confrontation at the border. Furthermore, about 900 aliens avoid conflict at the border in two weeks, according to a source who spoke with Breitbart Texas.

In addition, the numbers have skyrocketed to reach 118,000 FY21 earlier this March. The CBP reports that around 130,000 have avoided the confrontation at the border and are now illegally in the United States. The report adds that DHS does not release the tally for escapees. However, estimations get made by camera systems and aircraft platforms showing those evade confrontation at Border Control.

To identify footprints of immigrants where the cameras do not capture the escape, Border Control utilizes the traditional sign-cutting techniques. One agent cites the high inaccuracy associated with these techniques. It is because over a dozen immigrants can follow one trail. Additionally, they stick carpets with glue on their souls to avoid recognizing footprints, the agent adds.

The estimates provided at the border many times come incorrect. Sources that spoke to the news organization say that often the numbers come short, thus not reflecting the accurate picture on the ground alongside the border. Since February 2006, CBP recorded the highest number of escapees in a single year. The source adds that the humanitarian needs have overwhelmed Border Control.

As a result, the order remains understaffed, worsening the situation at the border. Families and minors require help that can only be provided by Border Control, making it hard to apprehend the immigrants. Finally, the source cites less concern by Homeland Security of the vulnerability at the border.
