Elias Landsmana is an experienced and well-respected businessman in Mexico. With over 50 years of experience, he has made his way into the top 100 list of largest Mexican companies. Additionally, he is the most important food provider in the country, helping feed people in need such as orphans, young mothers and individuals who struggle with drug addiction.
Elias Landsmana has made it his duty to fight Mexico’s culture of wasting food and other products by promoting a circular economy. Plastic, for instance, has been prohibited in forms of single-use products such as plastic shopping bags. Elias has also implemented a waste management system in all his companies.
In collaboration with his effort to reduce food waste, Elias Landsmana opened a food bank, The Pablo Landsmana Foundation, which supports and encourages a circular economy. Both businesses and community members contribute food to the bank. Foods collected include both perishable and nonperishable items.
He also encourages the following practices among families, communities and businesses:
- Choose durable household items that can be multi-use
- Partake in the second-hand clothing industry
- Participate in recycling and composting
- Install solar panels
- Conserve water
A circular economy is not something that will happen over night; however, Elias Landsmana is dedicated to helping people understand its importance and encouraging them to partake in his efforts toward waste reduction in Mexico.
