Based in Virginia and Washington DC, NumbersUSA is an immigration reduction organization that has been in existence since 1996. This article explores the history and activities of this outstanding organization.
Like many other great advocacy organizations today, this immigration reduction advocacy group has very humble beginnings. It came into life courtesy of Roy Beck to help push for the implementation of immigration regulation reports from the US Commission on Immigration Reform and the Presidential Task Force on Population and Consumption. They recommended that the US significantly reduce the number of immigrants it allows each year.
These recommendations were based on findings that unregulated immigration would lead to an explosion of the US population; thus, an inflated labor force and higher government expenditure. The result of this would be fewer freedoms, lower wages, and reduced quality of life for US citizens. Moreover, the environment and nature will also suffer from the rapidly increasing immigrant population in the country.
NumbersUSA engages in numerous immigration reduction activities, and it dedicates a considerable amount of its annual budget to facilitate lobbying for bills meant to curb the high rates of immigration into the country.
Additionally, the organization has, in recent years, been ramping up its member’s recruitment exercises, intending to attract more than five million new members countrywide. This will allow this organization to have the power to influence immigration policies countrywide.
Through its civil forums: NumbersUSA Action and NumbersUSA Education and Research Foundation, it enlightens the public, leaders, and policymakers on dangers posed by high immigration numbers on environmental, economic, and American Quality of Life.
Among the immigration regulations NumbersUSA is championing is eliminating the popular visa lottery programs and extended families US citizen’s route. Moreover, it’s seeking immigrant workers to be granted temporary work permits, and not the typical permanent work permits should be reserved for individuals with exceptional skill.
NumbersUSA also wants citizenship application procedures to be modified and former US President Donald Trump had already given his approval that certain provisions in this regard will be fulfilled. See this page for related information.
